CommuniTee Fashion Camp

My big cousin, Shaunda, hosted a Fashion camp in New Haven a couple weeks ago. It was fun to get involved and I'm happy to see that these kids have such an interest in creativity and fashion at such a young age. I also got a chance to Skype with them and chat for a few minutes while I was in the office.

I'm really impressed with their artwork that came out of the campers. I hope you guys had fun! Keep creating!

DIY: I made a bow tie :)

This is my second real crack at trying to sew. I didn't freestyle this time, like I did with the wallet. I was at work doing trend research earlier in the day and came across these cool bow ties called Jupe by Jackie. I like the shaped and the style of them. I worked with some available fabrics that I had. One side is a black waxed canvas and the other is a printed linen.

ANNNND... its reversible!

I have to make the neck strap for the bow tie next. I'm very excited to finish it and see someone actually wear it :)

Look what I made :) - Tea wallet

Its a tea wallet! lol This is actually pretty funny to me. I've been wanting to make something like this for a while and I finally got a chance to sit and get creative with my new sewing machine. I was soooo intimidated by the sewing machine when I first got it, but I'm definitely starting to get a better feel for how I'm supposed to do things. Don't judge me by the way the end result looks. I promise I'll get better.

I blended the tea myself. The ingredients are chamomile flowers, lavender, peppermint, and white tea leaves. I call this the "relaxation" blend.

After I cut up the tea filter..... I plan to get more creative with the tea bag shapes and stitching. Just wait... lol

The finished wallet. I should have taken more/better pics but I was in my zone lol. Maybe I'll take video next time.... or when I'm ready.

VIDEO: Driving in China

This afternoon, I was in a silly/great mood and decided I was going to hop in the driver's seat and be the one to drive to factory instead of Jim. He let me drive on my last trip, so he already knew I could handle it. I used to be intimidated by the chaos on the roads because there are just so many people out at the same time.

Notice how people just drive on any side of the road. I have to take another video on a busy street. This is light.

Arrival in Putian, China

The flight from Hong Kong to Xiamen

Arrival - Had a driver that didn't speak English (bottom right). He parked so far away and I felt so clueless, following him to wherever we were gonna end up.

The lobby at the Putian office. I had to get a picture of this guy lounging (barefoot) because I'm pretty sure he works there.

I don't know what they call this, but its bangin too. Its got bananas on the inside and is fried with peanut butter. Mm!

Everytime I come to China, I order these mushrooms, any chance I get. So good!

Yes, they have Kentucky Fried Chicken all the way in China... the menu is kind of different though... And everything is much smaller compared to America (of course).

The local taxi bikes. I'm trying to get on one of these before I leave, but I don't think anyone is going to let me. We'll see... lol

Artwork Collab: TashLeake X Jarid Andrew

Yayyyy so this is the start of something spectacular lol. Jarid and I did our first collaborative piece. It was very spur of the moment and we've been talking a lot recently about collaborating on a photography/fine arts piece. I had some art supplies in my room, so we just put our heads together and came up with this :) . Check the progression... LOVE IT! This might have to stay in my room lol

We started out with a blank canvas (18x24, I believe) and 4 pieces of foam.. 2 were taped together the long way.

Then we began to cut. I should have taken a pic of the make-shift exacto knife we made. It DEF did its job... even tho I got cut lol. This was fun because we pretty much free styled the whole thing.

The next step was the paint job. The colors were carefully chosen because you have to have the right balance of emotion when choosing them. I started from one corner and Jarid started from the other... and we met in the middle. You can see how our two styles collided.

After the paint dried, we assembled our foam pieces on top to create a bold contrast with the color. I think it came out so DOPE. Both of our foam cut outs were a result of creative expression and there's some meaning behind some of the shapes. There's even a couple subliminal formations there that may have to be pointed out if you don't catch them right away. We did this pretty quickly... I don't think I've ever done this before haha... I LOVE IT :) Can't wait to do some more!

Fly Talk: Showroom Sneak Peak (Chiv, Pastry, RunAthletics)

See how things just come back around?? lol. I've been blogging the Fly Talk episodes for months now.. CL KNOWS what he's talking about and recently, he bum rushed the Vida offices. I got a chance to appear on one of the episodes, showcasing some of our new product :) .I always wanted to make a cameo... I didn't imagine getting showcased (It's like "The Secret" lol). We couldn't get too close tho, the stuff coming out next year is EXCLUSIVE lol. The SIRE VARSITY collection is in stores now tho. Check it out :)))

[Mixtape] The RhythMac Atonement: blue emo is the drug - Blogzworth

This release is actually pretty funny for me lol. For a couple years, I've watched Blogzworth make songs as a form of his own creative self-expression. Some days he was just being silly, some days he was really trying to let people know what was on his mind, but I've always been there to critique and let him know how cool it was that he had a natural ability to control the tones in his voice. I'm convinced that there's nothing this guy can't do and he proves it by taking on certain projects for the sake of genuine interest... you inspire me! :) Continue to create because I'm anxiously awaiting the release of your next project... especially if its another hidden talent lol

Abstract by TashLeake

I finally finished this painting for my brother. It was actually spur-of-the-moment, how I started painting this. I was looking in a some magazines to put more pics up on my vision board and saw some rocks that inspired me to paint (so random I know)... but for the most part I was just doodling with the paint. This seems to be my favorite way to paint because I don't have to concentrate on anything. I just let my mind go as I fill the canvas.

Lamar, as promised, this canvas is much bigger (35in x 35in). I hope you like it and I hope it brings some good energy into your room.

I've already started another painting. I'm not gonna show where I'm at with it yet, but I'm calling it "Tree of Thought" :)

Meet "Bub"

I got this little guy at the Kid Robot store in San Fran. Me and Jess gave him a little bit of a character already but he's obviously unfinished. He started out as Bub from Dublin .. he was supposed to be a carpenter but when I started to draw his clothes, he started to look a little more sophisticated. Idk what he is now but he still needs a face. I was thinking of drawing a huge goofy smile so he can give me some of that energy whenever i look at him... lol idk. Any ideas? I'll add color last.

Doodle therapy

Here's some random artwork. Sometimes, when I have a lot on my mind I do this thing where I just take a picture of something and translate it in my own way with whatever medium (marker, pen, paint.. etc.) until I'm a little more at ease. This time I used some AD markers on a page in my sketchbook. Interesting.... I think this would be cool if it was cropped and blown up to put on a wall.

Hip Hop Sneaker Art Battle - HARLEM, NY

This was a lot of fun. Paula invited me to come see her do some graffiti on sneakers. I thought it was gonna be something like a live battle, but when I walked in, everyone was chillin drawin on sneakers..... so I had to join in :). The shoe I did is below.
