My thoughts going into 2011

I feel like I broke out of my shell some more, this year, and developed a higher level of confidence and awareness. I had a great feeling about 2010 before it started, but I definitely didn't expect to experience all of the things I did this year. I'm grateful for it, alhamdulillah.

I had a chance to go to LA, Vegas, Miami, and China for the first time. I love to travel so you know I was suped lol. I had the opportunity to gain a better understanding of business in all aspects and also picked up some more web/blogging skills (holla lol).

Its funny because I watched "The Secret" about 3 times during the end of Dec/09 and transitioned into the new year with such a great attitude. My mind was clear and my heart was filled with gratitude. With the help of a few books that I read this year, I was able to heighten my sense of awareness and understand certain principles like the power of thought. Each one of us has the power to change our attitudes at any second; and when you change your attitude, often times, you can change the outcome of your situation, as well.

Too many times, we catch ourselves dwelling over unnecessary things.... almost to the point where we have these "thought attacks" that ruin our days and may even cause anxiety. When you realize that its really you that's making the situation so bad in your mind, you can gain control of this action and cut the habit. Just try it. It's easier than you think if you really just try..

My intention is to go into this new year with the same kind of attitude but with an even greater sense of acceptance for things I can't change, gratitude for the things I have, and motivation to learn more. Oh yeah... and I decided to get in a good a laugh everyday. Why not, right? Laughter heals.

I'm also still on my journey to becoming more educated in Islam, so there may be some changes, inshAllah. I was listening to some of Lauryn Hill's music and the line "how quickly we forget... that nothing is for certain" stood out to me. As harsh as the reality may seem, its true. We only have but so much control over life. Remember God, be truthful, and do good deeds. Your reward will come, inshAllah (God Willing).

With all that being said, I'm SO excited for the new year. I've learned a lot in the past few months that I want to implement. Stay tuned folks! It's about to go DOWN (kevin hart voice)

I hope everyone has a safe and prosperous new year :)

The Flow Of Life: 5 Life Traits To Control Your Coincidences

I got this off of my friend, Blogzworth's site... check it out: Blogzworth.com
The Flow Of Life: 5 Life Traits To Control Your Coincidences

Have you ever had an encounter that turned into a lifetime of friendship? Or how about think of a loved one to instantly have the phone ring with your mother on the other end just wanting to hear your voice? These are not coincidences; they’re thoughts attached to emotions which affect everything you do. Many of us consistently miss out on adventures and life changing experiences, quickly dismissing these instances as mere coincidences. Living in the life of ‘Flow’ is much more an art-form than any inattentive notion  The Power Of Flow, by Charlene Belitz & Meg Lundstrom, reveals practical ways to transform your life with meaningful coincidences. They accredit the Power of Flow to distinct attributes or traits that most of us already possess. In this article, I’ve highlighted a few of these traits so that you may bring in your 2011 with a heightened sense of awareness.
Honesty
Become brutally honest with yourself and others, no matter how uncomfortable it makes you feel. We pursue the truth because we know it will set us free. When we don’t have to lie, we don’t have to think. Real honesty, or the true source of approval comes from within. First be true to yourself. Authenticity invites trust, and trust opens doors.
Passion
Be passionate about life, love, and the pursuit of happiness. Flow is powered by our passions. When we’re passionate we let go of self-protective caution and immerse ourselves in the moment. By indulging in the things about which we are passionate, whether a job, a relationship, or an idea, we begin to notice changes in our lives, and a life of flow begins.
Immediacy
We must not hang onto thoughts of the past; nor should we dwell on trying to control how things will turn out. Instead, try focusing your full attention on each and every interaction. Become fully engaged in everything you do. This will not only make it easier to notice meaningful coincidences coming our way, but it will also make life exponentially more exciting.
Positivity
When we think positively, we seek value in every opportunity. We are not fault-finders, but fact-finders even in the worst of situations. When we believe everything happens for a reason, the fault doesn’t matter.  Be aware of bad situations and negative thoughts, but don’t dwell on them. Avert your attention to what must change for the better of the situation. Understand and learn from the people we meet rather than place fault or blame.
Trust
Trust might be the most important trait for the development of flow into your life. Trust allows us to move forward without the fear of uncertainty. When we trust, we are open to whatever is before us; this leaves infinite room for opportunity. Without haste or hesitation, we embrace the world, willing to risk everything, challenging life’s possibilities.

Black Enterprise-Business Report: Pastry by Vanessa and Angela Simmons

This is pretty cool. It was my first day back from China and there was so much
going on on the office. I went upstairs to get some tea and find that Angela and Vanessa were filming for Black Enterprise. I was asked to be a part of the design meeting
that they were filming so that's how I ended up making my cameo lol. Anyway.. I'm glad the biz is doing so well :)

I highly recommend this book:

Its called, "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff... And Its All Small Stuff". This book promotes a higher level of thinking where you become aware of the little things that you let get your head. Thinking is the highest form of activity that anyone can do and can cause damage if you're not thinking about the right things. Negative thoughts can become toxic to your life and, in turn, can make you depressed and even sick.

I like to think of myself as a positive person who uses enough logic to not let too many things get to me, but it definitely still happens, even if I don't show it. I think most people can relate. I don't want to get too specific because the author hits on so many different ways to not "sweat the small stuff".. and even puts in perspective what "stuff" we tend to blow up when its really not even that serious. I agree with most of whats written.

I usually order books online at Amazon. Check out this link. There's a series of books by this author : Amazon.com

I don't know who drew this, but it made me laugh

Floetry - If I was bird

I don't think I can ever get tired of this song... I've been feeling very poetic lately.

"Sometimes blindness finds me
and leads me through ignorance
not allowing us to gain experience
so we become lifeless
At other times I cover with
self pity or work aimlessly through reality so
Occasionally I choose to travel alone
but never fulfil my possibility so
mostly I attempt to achieve balance
by seeking right knowledge of loving
and reviewing and eventually overstanding those
many lessons of my life"

I woke up to a little knock on my door and Charisse saying "Check your bbm!"  lol.... Long and behold.. tickets to the Knicks vs. Nuggets game was ours lol THANKS CHERISE for hookin us up! :)
At first we had the suite seats. I didn't even know they had suites up there. Goes to show how much I go to games huh?
We couldn't really see anything so we decided to go down to where the real action was lol.
This is when it got interesting..

Blackberry pics 12/9

I need to get one of these... a Reflection Room?? lol -- saw this in San Francisco Airport
There's actually a funny story behind this pic. Room service was giving Jamila trouble with her order. She ordered the spaghetti bolognaise and she spoke to the chef to make sure there was no pork in the dish. When the food finally came, they didn't have her order. She called back asking what happened and the hotel must has sensed that she was stressed out or something........ so to calm her down, they sent up someone to give her a foot massage. It was hilarious.
This is gross. its a form of alcohol that the Chinese have. They let snakes, ginger roots and all kinds of random things marinade in a jar for like a hundred years. Then they take shots. I heard it was only for the men.
Nnamdi! :) We were all walking to the car one night and found this on the street. Womp womp for whoever these belonged to.
... and this is how Charisse Monet holds chop sticks lol
Chillin with Jess and Craig in my room. His comfort zone is on top of Jess's shoulders. Such a weird little guy.
WHEN was the last time you saw anyone with these?? LOL. My co-worker had them.
Idk what's goin on with the guy's hair. I had to take a pic to examine it some more.
